CZECH REPUBLIC AND SLOVAKIA

Another border sign and we pass into the Czech  Republic. We found the garage to get our 10 day motorway pass ( the smallest we could get and stuck it on the windscreen.

We passed this huge Solar Farm. If they can do this here I wonder why we are not doing more for solar power back home.

The country we are passing through has a big crops of white flowers which look a bit like poppies.

We found the camping ground in Prague and settled in. We have a nice grassy pitch with plenty of room. There is a pool which is surrounded with lounges. There are enough to satisfy the German campers and still have some for other campers. Wi fi ( which works well) and washing machines are free. We are about 15 k out of Prague with a bus stop 100 m away which goes to the metro and then into Prague. We arrive in the city centre in about 40 minutes.

Czech Rep is famous for crystal and you cant walk more than 30 metres without falling over another shop selling Crystal. Some souvenir quality and a lot with very expensive pieces.
Everywhere you look there are beautiful buildings and it is so easy to walk from square to square and down to the river where the castle is on the opposite bank.

There are seats around the statues where we really enjoy sitting and looking at the passing parade.
This is the famous Charles bridge. It is crowded with  tourists night and day.

We tried this delicious sweet which reminded us of the churros in Spain. It is dough wound onto a large spindle and covered with toffee sugar and spices then cooked over coals. Really Yummy.
One evening we went on a dinner cruise and it was amazing to see so many people out enjoying the river. We went in a lock along with about 10 other boats.  The green light in the photo is about halfway along the lock, so it bought back memories of Courlis in the giant german locks.

Another evening we went in to see the beginning of the Jazz Festival.

After 4 fabulous days wandering around what is now our favourite city we left Prague and crossed into Slovakia .

We had to buy another motorway pass which was a bit of a nuisance as they only came in 10 days or longer.
We now have a lot of climbing to do as we cross the country on the way to Budapest in Hungary.

The deer warning signs are different once again.
and the crosswalks have a very up market crosswalk sign, a man wearing  a bowler hat.
Slovakia has a lot of historical buildings and lovely scenery, We spent a couple of days then it was off to Budapest on the motorway along with the rest of Europe on holidays.
